Zane Wetzel Parsons of Kenova

Zane Wetzel Parsons, 80, of Kenova, WV, died, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. January 15, 2011 at Rollins Funeral Home in Kenova, WV with Rev. Earl Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. He was born April 7, 1930 a son of the late James W. and Ella Skeen Parsons in Sissonville, WV. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he had been a postmaster at the Ceredo, WV post office. In addition to his parents Zane was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Reese Parsons; an infant son, Richard Allen Parsons and two brothers, William Dale Parsons and Orel Adair Parsons. He is survived by one son, Zane Parsons, Jr. of Kenova, WV. Zane was a founder of the Museum of Radio and Technology in Huntington. He was a U. S. patent holder; a Kentucky Colonel; a ham radio operator and a charter member of the Sissonville VFW Post #3066. Zane was a U.S. Army veteran and members of American Legion Post #93 Kenova will conduct graveside military rites. He was a member of Sunshine Freewill Baptist Church in Huntington.
