Bessie Davis Osburn of Lavalette
Bessie Davis Osburn, 95, of Lavalette, WV, widow of Irvin Osburn, departed this life December 30, 2012 at Grayson Assisted Living with her daughter by her side. She was born January 29, 1917 in Waterloo, Ohio to Hendrix and Laura Lambert Davis. She will be celebrating her 96th birthday with Jesus and her husband. She worked 29 years at the former Huntington Manufacturing Company and was a member of the former Booton United Baptist Church. Also preceding her in death were brothers and sisters, Leslie, Ben and Cecil Davis, Ruby Adkins, Frankie Blankenship, Esta Lipkings and Dorothy Yates. Left to remember many precious memories are her daughter, Jane Adkins (Wendell), a son, Gary Osburn (Dona), her grandchildren, Steve Adkins (Roxanne), Brian Adkins (Jeanne), Kevin Adkins (Silke), Gary Ray Osburn (Lora), Gretchen Beach (J.K.), and Grant Osburn (Julie); her great-grandchildren, Michael Adkins (Kristine), Whitney Adkins, Katie Davis (Patrick), Nick and Brett Adkins, Elizabeth and Victoria Osburn, Joshua, Matthew, and Benjamin Beach, and Claire, David and Jocelyn Osburn; great-great-grandchildren, Summer and Caleb Adkins and Natalie Davis; a sister, Edith Shourds; sisters-in-law, Juanita Davis, Betty Burks, Mae Adkins and Virginia Osburn; a brother-in-law, Carl Osburn (Emma); and several nieces and nephews. Jane wishes to thank Birchie ”Red” Booton and Rebbie Blankenship for their help and friendship, Gentiva Physical Therapists, Crystal with Dr. Pinson’s office, and Sandy, Tina, Debbie, Rhonda and Melissa with Hospice. Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2013 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, with Brother Paul Michael Booth officiating. Burial followed at Mays Cemetery at Lavalette. Friends called from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Her grandsons served as pallbearers.
