Carol Curnutte Epling of Wayne

Carol Curnutte Epling, 80, of Wayne, WV passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, WV. She was born December 18, 1930 in Radnor, WV, a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Nellie (Hampton) Curnutte. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Wetzel Curnutte and his wife Joan. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Arch Epling; a son Oliver Douglas Epling and his wife Glenna; a grandson, Ryan Douglas Epling, all of Wayne, WV whom she loved very much; a brother, Charles Curtis Curnutte and wife, Peggy, of Radnor, WV; a sister Barbara Ann Cox and husband, Ralph, of Wayne, WV; and several nieces and nephews; she is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Esta Epling and Anna Epling of Wayne, WV. During the Vietnam era, Carol worked to keep the POW’s and MIA’s from being forgotten by writing and delivering speeches throughout Arizona, where she and Arch lived for 22 years. She had received several awards and commendations for her work from various service organizations. Carol was a member of the Church of Christ (Radnor and Wayne). Funeral services will be conducted at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV by minister Ron Ross and Jeff Ross on Sunday, February 6, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be Saturday, February 5, 2011 from 6 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in the Curnutte Cemetery at Radnor, WV. Pallbearers will be her grandson, Ryan Epling, and nephews, Ben Cox, Dwight Cox, Mark Curnutte, great –nephews Benji Cox and Jason Cox.
