Johnie W. Johnson of Wayne

Johnie W. Johnson, 74, of Wayne, WV, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, February 5, 2011 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Brother Donald Gene Maynard and Elder Sid Stroud. Burial followed at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. He was born September 6, 1936 at Man, WV, a son of the late Andrew J. and Emma Rowe Johnson. Johnie retired as a group three cleaner at Ford Motor Company at Brookpark, Ohio after 37 years of service. Johnie was Pentecostal by faith. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Janice Nelson, brothers, David Johnson and Little Joe Johnson, and granddaughter, Faith McCoy. He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Geneva Madeline Smith Johnson; his sons, John Johnson of Cleveland, OH, and Billy Johnson, at home; daughters Judy McCoy and husband, Bruce of Williamson, WV, Geneva Ann Rodriguez and fiancé, John Brooks of Lavalette, WV, and Linda Tomblin and husband, Jay of Wayne, WV; his sisters, Emmabell, Cora, Nora, Carol, Nellie and Andrea; his brother, Tommy; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews. He was a special Papaw to 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. During the past two years Johnie had made his home with daughters Ann and Linda. His grandsons served as pallbearers. Johnie’s departing prayer was from Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
