Mary Louise "Gamma" Perry Martin of Garden City, SC, formerly of Wayne

Mary Louise “Gamma” Perry Martin, age 88, wife of the late, Ray C. Martin, passed away, Saturday, February 12, 2011 at NHC of Garden City. Mrs. Martin was born January 01, 1923 in Wayne, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Jay and Hazel Ratcliffe Perry. During World War II Mrs. Martin worked as a Post Mistress in War, West Virginia. After raising her children, she worked in retail sales in Huntington, West Virginia for many years. Mrs. Martin most recently was the Manager of the Bay Shore Motel in Myrtle Beach before retiring. She was a former member of Centerville Baptist Church in Centerville, West Virginia, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was active in the Ladies Circle and Vacation Bible School. Mrs. Martin enjoyed many things in life; including quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, reading, and walking. In addition to her husband, her daughter; Elizabeth Martin; her four brothers, Bob, Rush, Ronnie, and Thomps Perry; and her sister, Belle Thompson, preceded Mrs. Martin in death. Survivors include her loving daughter; Hazel Rae Martin Frick and her husband, Glenn, of Fort Mill, SC; the lights of her life, two grandsons, D.J. Cooke and his wife, Jamie, of Fort Mill, SC, Bradley Cooke of Fort Mill, SC; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in April at First Baptist Church in Fort Mill, SC.
