Joseph E. Carter of Louisa
Dr. Joseph E. Carter, Jr. went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning Feb. 26, 2011 at Woodland Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Ashland. He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Joseph E. Carter and Christine Elizabeth Swethnam Carter and a sister; Carolyn Carter Norton. Dr. Carter was a member of the Unity Bapt. Church in Ashland, Louisa Rotary, Cannonsburg Optmist Club. He was a Air Force Veteran. An avid U.K. Wildcat fan, fisherman and loved the outdoors. He was a graduate of University of Kentucky and University of Louisville of Dentistry and member of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity. Former board member of First National Bank of Louisa and Former V.P. of First National Bank of Louisa. Former president and founder of First Federal Savings and Loan of Louisa. Surviving is his wife: Teresa M. Carter of Catlettsburg, three daughters; Twin daughters; Carolyn and Elizabeth Carter of Ashland, KY. and Christine (Robert) Schultz of Boonton Township, N.J., one son: Joseph E. (Josephine) Carter III ofJersey City, N.J.; two grandsons; Ashley and Carter Schultz of N.J. and several special nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 1pm at Louisa United Methodist Church with Dr. Floyd Paris and Rev. Harold Cathey officiating. Burial followed at Pinehill Cemetery, Louisa, KY. Visitation was 6-8 on Monday at STEEN Funeral Home 13th Street, Ashland Ky. Young Funeral Home of Louisa was in charge of arrangements.
