James Thomas Adkins of Wayne
James Thomas Adkins, 89, of Wayne, WV, formerly of Harrisville, WV, passed away Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 19, 1922 at Stiltner, WV, a son of the late Cain and Haney Napier Adkins. He was retired coal miner of 40 years and member of the United Mine Workers of America, and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. His daughter, Brenda Lou Adkins Veres also preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Lou Napier Adkins; four sons, James Dale (Carol) Adkins and Larry Thomas Adkins, all of Wayne, WV, Robert Cain(Sabrina) Adkins of Harrisville, WV, and Richard Jay (Kim) Adkiins of Jeffery, WV; a son-in-law, Gary Veres of St. Albans, WV; six grandchildren, Bobbyln Adkins (Jason) Lanham of Dayton, OH, Brandon (Jamie) Adkins and Carl (Allison) Adkins, all of Huntington, WV, Kyle Adkins of Chapmanville, WV, Ashley Meagan Adkins (Fred) Blind of Auburndale, FL, and Micah (Julia) Veres of Charleston, WV; a special great-granddaughter, Ava Grace of Auburndale. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at the Morris Funeral Home with Leo & Buster Maynard officiating. Burial to follow at Community Memorial Gardens, Wayne. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
