Ava Ellis White of Dunlow

Ava Ellis White, 92, of Dunlow, W.Va. left this world Monday, April 4, 2011, in the arms of Jesus while surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 12, 1918 to the late John and Erna Ellis in Logan County, W.Va. Ava was a member of the Dunlow Freewill Baptist Church. Ava was preceded in death by her loving husband, Andrew White; two sons, Robert White and Rev. Billy Joe White; son-in-law, Elbert Thompson; daughters-in-law, Verna Mae White and Dorothy White; two great grand children, Treasure Hope and Amanda White; mother in law, Maude White; step mother, Emmer Ellis; two brothers, Don Ellis and Elmo Ellis; and one sister, Addie Motto. She will be sadly missed by her 12 surviving children, Myrtle Thompson of Fort Gay, W.Va., Andrew Jr. (Eloise) of Sullivan, Ohio, Freelan White of Sullivan, Ohio, Don (Sharon) White of Dunlow, W.Va., Tenis (Gail) White of Wellington, Ohio, Sue (Garland) Wilson of Silver Springs, Florida, Shirley (Norman) Maynard of Wayne, W.Va., Brenda (Charles) Jervis of Rittman, Ohio, Raymond (Marjetta) White of Wakeman, Ohio, Lois (Ronnie) Little of Crum, W.Va., Karen (Herman) Williamson of Dunlow, W.Va. and Tommy (Julia) White of Wayne, W.Va. Also surviving are two daughters-in-law; Blanche White of Rochester, Ohio and Linda White of Sullivan, Ohio. She leaves behind her many grandchildren she loved dearly: 37 grandchildren, 78 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves behind two sisters, Janice Brewer and Martha Preece; and two brothers, John Ellis and Grover (Hilda) Ellis of Logan County; and a host of other family members and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Amanda Clay. Also, thanks to Dr. Robert Childers, St. Mary’s Hospital, Dennis Moore RN and the staff of Hospice of Huntington, and John and Cathy Queen (owners Right At Home Caregivers) of Ceredo. Thanks to the many people that prayed for her and the family throughout her illness. Ava’s wish would be that everyone meet her in Heaven. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Dunlow Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Russell Watts, Brother Luther Dingess, and grandson Randy White officiating. Burial will follow in the White Family Cemetery, Dunlow with her sons serving as pallbearers. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Johnson Tiller Funeral Home is honored to serve the White family.
