James Larry Christian of Kenova

James Larry Christian, known to many as Mr. C., left this world to go on the next with Christ. Larry was born in Logan, West Virginia, on October 24, 1948. Larry suffered from polio at a very young age. However, he never let the disease slow him down or deter him from success. He graduated from Ceredo-Kenova High School in 1966. While attending there, he had to crawl up three flights of stairs each day but never complained. In 1970, he graduated from Marshall University which he attended on an academic scholarship. He taught at Buffalo Middle and High School for 30 years. He coached soccer and boys and girls basketball. While teaching he was awarded a research grant from NASA. He loved the students that he taught over the years and was endearingly referred to as Mr. C. He reached out to students including those in financial need and made sure that they had the resources to participate in sporting activities and extracurricular events. He is remembered by many for taking students on fishing trips to Beech Fork Lake and going beyond the call of duty to help his students. He loved the men and women who served our country and gave generously to Wounded Warriors and also to St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital. He was survived by his sister Sandra Kay Midkiff, his niece Jane Joseph and his nephews Teddy and Michael Midkiff. He will be greatly missed but always remembered in our hearts. We will say our final farewell to James (Uncle Larry) (Mr. C.) Christian on April 21, 2012 at noon at the beach and picnic area of Beech Fork Lake. All those wishing to attend are welcome.
