Autho Blankenship of Lavalette
Autho Blankenship, 67, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with The Lord and also join his son Jason on Thursday morning, April 10, 2013. He was born March 10, 1946, in Wayne County, a son of the late Clyde “Rooster” and Ellen Marie Blankenship. One sister, Quilla Ratcliff, also preceded him in death.
He was the beloved husband of Hazel R. Blankenship for 39 wonderful years; the loving father to Hamilton Blankenship and his fiancé Noel Thompson, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, Edna (Glenn Jr.) of Huntington, Autho “A.J.” Jr. (Annie) Blankenship of Portland, Texas, Dana (Roger) of Mammoth Cave, Ky., and Teresa Blankenship of Huntington. Autho’s greatest joy was his grandchildren, Emily, Aaron, Savannah, Kaiden, “Tater” Blankenship, David and Hannah Trosper, Eric Thomspon, Eric Maynard, Robert Blankenship, Cody Carnes and Megan Blankenship. Also surviving are three brothers, Dexel (Wanda) Blankenship, Denny (Donna) Blankenship and Adrian (Carolyn) Blankenship; one sister, Annalou (Willis) Maynard; special niece, Karen Ratcliff; many additional nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kathy Miller, and Glenn and Tina Burton.
Autho was not only a great dad but a best friend. His signature laugh will never be forgotten. Amidst all the joking and playing around, we all knew that he was always there when we needed him. There was so much love in his heart for his children, grandchildren and also for animals. He would offer the shirt off his back to help anyone in need and always ready to help. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Johnny McSweeney officiating. Burial followed at Spring Valley Memory Gardens.
