Barbara B. Morris of Wayne

Barbara B. Morris, 85, of Wayne, WV, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV, by Rev. Jim Plyburn. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery at Wayne. She was born July 27, 1925 at Wayne, WV, a daughter of the late Hugh Russell and Gypsy Beckett Wright. Barbara spent her working years as a deputy in the Wayne County Clerk’s office and later as a secretary for the Wayne County Board of Education. She was perhaps as well known for her skills as a pianist and organist, having played for services many years at the Wayne United Methodist Church where she was a member. She also played for various community functions throughout the years. Her former husband, Dana C. Morris, and her brother, Hugh Russell Wright, Jr. also preceded her in death. She is survived by two sons, D. C. Morris, Jr. and wife Patty of Wayne, and David P. Morris and wife, Bonnie of Lavalette, WV; four granddaughters, Mary Pat Morris of Barboursville, WV, Ashley Saunders and husband, Randy of Huntington, WV, Kara Adkins and husband, Darik of Lavalette, WV, and Kelly Kinsey and husband, Andrew of Huntington, WV; four great-grandchildren, Addison Belle, Brooke, and Cooper Adkins, and Ella Kinsey; and a brother-in-law, Jimmy Dow Wilson of Shoals, WV. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Morris Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff at Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation for their loving care and kindness during Barbara’s illness.
