Scott K. Osburn formerly of Proctorville
Scott K. Osburn, 92, formerly of Proctorville, OH passed away on Tuesday May 15, 2012 at Wyngate Senior Living in Barboursville, WV. Funeral services were held on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with nephews, Rev. Dale Adkins and Rev. Greg Adkins officiating. Burial followed at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born in Wayne County, WV on August 20, 1919 the son of the late Samuel and Verna Berry Osburn. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia Adkins Osburn; his son Keith, and his wife Nicki of Huntington, grandsons, Jason (Kathy) Osburn of Proctorville and Wes Osburn of Huntington; two sisters, Dorothy Mae Adkins of Piqua, OH and Betty Burks of Huntington; a brother, Carl Osburn and wife, Emma of Lavalette, WV; sister-in-law, Bessie Osburn also of Lavalette, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bruce, Irvin and Roscoe Osburn; four sisters, Pearl Osburn, Opal Adkins, Sylvia Booten, and Maxine Kuhn. Scott served honorably with the U.S. Army during WWII in Central Europe and retired from the VA Hospital in 1974 after 31 years of faithful employment. After retirement Scott made regular visits to the YMCA to exercise and take long hot showers at their expense. He and Virginia enjoyed bus trips, gardening, golfing and spending time with family and friends. For years they attended First Baptist Church of Proctorville and were baptized in the fall of 2010 by Rev. Jeff Black. The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Cynthia Pinson and the Wyngate family for the kindness and care that was given to Scott. Special thanks to family, friends, and neighbors for their visits that brightened his day.
