Dolly Jane “Toots” Smith of Huntington
Dolly Jane “Toots” Smith, 89, of Huntington, W.Va., went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 3, 2013. She was born October 21, 1923 in Ransom, Ky., a daughter of the late Bob and Oma Smith Harris. Her husband, Willard Smith also preceded her in death, along with three brothers, Ervin Harris Jr., Bill Harris, and James Harold Harris; three sisters, Geraldine Bakka, Hathaleen Livingston, and Nolene Mahan; one son, Billy Ervin Smith; one daughter, Deborah Sue Smith; and stepson Lewis Thomas Smith. Dolly was a member of the Fifth Avenue Freewill Baptist Church, Huntington and the Piqua Freewill Baptist Church, Piqua, Ohio.
She leaves behind four sons, Darrell Gene Smith of Elkhorn City, Ky., Michael Ray Smith of East Lynn, W.Va., David Bruce Smith and his wife Angela of St. Paris, Oh., and Ricky Dean Smith and his wife Letha of Bradford, Oh.; two daughters, Betty Nill, and Linda Smith and her husband Gary, all of Huntington; 15 grandchildren, Deborah, Sharon, Deanna, Jennifer, Darrell, Vickie, Gregory, Douglas, Ruth, Michael, David, Michelle, Brady, McKenzie, and Jesse; 31 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.
Also surviving are two sisters, Emogene Anderson and her husband Homer of Columbus, Oh., and Beatrice Bostic of Portland, Or.; one brother, Roby Gene Harris and his wife Carol of Fowlersville, Mich.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Vance and Pastor Steve Skyes officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
