Glenna Avonell McKeand Wellman of Kenova

Glenna Avonell McKeand Wellman, 84, of Kenova, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Wayne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Garrett’s Creek Church of Christ by Evangelist Wyn Baker. Burial will be at the Guy Plymale Cemetery. Glenna was a member of the Garretts Creek Church of Christ and was a great example to all those who knew her while she lived each day for the Lord. Glenna retired from the Lavalette Public Service District where she had served as the general manager. She was born December 14, 1928 to the late James Willis McKeand and Ruth Johnson McKeand Leonard. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Wilma Jean Nichols; two brothers-in-law, Larry Wellman and Joe Shy; three sisters-in-law, Bernice Maynard, Betty Spence and Carol Cisco and several nieces and nephews. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, Billy J. Wellman; four adoring children, one daughter and son-in-law Joe and Patsy Crisel of Kenova; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Debby Wellman of Prichard, Rick and Pat Wellman of Kenova and Dale and Terri Wellman of Springdale, Arkansas; eleven much loved grandchildren and sixteen precious great grandchildren. Glenna is also survived by three sisters, Willa Dean Allen, Alfreda Wade and Lillian Stephenson; one sister-in-law, Wanda Wellman and many loving nieces and nephews. Glenna was always kind, compassionate and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Wayne Nursing and Rehab Center for their amazing care and love given to Glenna during this last six months. Donations may be made in her memory to the Activity Center at Wayne Nursing and Rehab, RR 1 Box 1372, Wayne, WV 25570.
