Hoover Asbury of Wayne
Hoover Asbury, 79, of Wayne, WV passed away at his home June 24, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 am Monday, June 27, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV by Pastor Fred Ferguson and Pastor Rick Perdue. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington, WV. Hoover was born March 17, 1932 in East Lynn, WV, the youngest son of the late Moses and Minnie Davis Asbury. He was a contractor who built homes in Putnam, Wayne and Lincoln counties. He was a member of Wayne Baptist Church who faithfully assisted him and his family during his illness. Hoover loved his family deeply and prided himself on keeping a well-manicured lawn. He took pride in his four girls, Mary, Janet Lynn, Rachel and Abby and adored his one and only great grandson, Heath. Hoover was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 ½ years, Mary Lycans Asbury in 2008 and by eleven brothers and sisters, Lucian, Elmer, Claude, Woodrow, Tom, Barney, Bill, Hartley, Pinky, Sally (Griffin), and Nannie (Crabtree). Survivors include his loving daughter Janet Perdue and husband, David of Huntington, WV; two granddaughters, Abigail Lauren Perdue of Arlington, VA and Rachel Asbury Turner and husband, Alexander of Huntington, WV; and a special great-grandson, Heath. He is also survived by a special brother, George Asbury and wife, Eileen and special sister, Victoria Vaughn all of Huntington, WV; along with a host of nieces and nephews. Hoover will be missed by those he left behind here on earth. However, he will be even more welcome by those with whom he has been reunited in heaven. Visitation will be from 6-9 Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home, Wayne, WV. Flowers are appreciated, but in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington.
