Opal Damron Wallace Pope of Wayne

Opal Damron Wallace Pope, 84, of Wayne went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 2, 2012, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, with Elders Roger Maynard, Tommy Damron and Jerry Casteel officiating. Burial will follow at the Sam Damron Cemetery, Ferguson, WV. She was born on December 8, 1927, to the late Sam Damron and Peggy (Ray) Smith Damron. She was a homemaker and a member of the Echo United Baptist Church in Echo, WV. She worked for many years at Trautwein’s grocery store in Wayne, WV. She enjoyed being a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved gardening. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husbands Bradie Wallace and George Pope, 7 siblings and 10 infant siblings. Survivors include her children Sharon Ross (Ronald), Tammy Ross (David), Dwayne Wallace (Clara), Tabbie Napier (French), all of Wayne, WV; Brice Wallace (Nancy Van Valkenburg) of Roy, Utah; and stepchildren Mary and Michael Pope. She is also survived by seven siblings: Sam Damron, Ida Napier, Mollie Maynard, Orville Damron, Darrell Damron, Wilmer Damron and Tommy Damron; 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also leaves behind her special friend Richard Napier, near Ceredo, WV, and his family. Friends called 6 to 9 p.m. Friday June 1, 2012, at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne.
