Delbert L. Queen of Amherst formerly of Wayne County

Delbert L. Queen, 72 years of age, and a resident of Amherst, passed away June 20, 2013 at Three Rivers Medical Center following a lingering illness. Delbert was born September 29, 1940, in Wayne County, West Virginia. Amherst has been his home for most of his adult life. He was employed by Ford Motor Corporation in Lorain for thirty-five years before retiring in 1994. He was Vice-President of the Lorain County Coon Club and enjoyed club turkey shoots. He took great pride in taking care of his log home, yard and gardening. Delbert loved nature and animals. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Kathleen Queen (nee: McQueen); his sons Norman L. Queen of Vermilion, Michael L. Queen of Amherst, Timothy Tansey and his wife Ann of South Amherst; his daughters Carrie Ott and her husband Todd of Vermilion, Jennifer Haas of Birmingham, Melissa Guelker and her husband Frank of Amherst; eleven grandchildren; brother Thomas Queen and his wife Penny of Dunlow, West Virginia; sisters Annie Crum and her husband Hobert of Dunlow, West Virginia, Leva Adkins of Trenton, Michigan and Pearl Hardwig of Norwalk. Delbert was preceded in death by his wife of twenty-eight years, Lilly Mae Queen (nee: Marcum) in 1988; his daughter Rhonda Queen in 1995; his son Terrence Tansey in 2011; one brother; and his parents William and Katie Queen (nee: Maynard). Friends called Monday, June 24, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland St., Amherst, OH 44001. Funeral services was held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Matt Williams officiated. Burial followed at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst.
