Sylvia Ferguson Thompson of Wayne

Sylvia Ferguson Thompson, 89, of Wayne, WV, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Elders Ivory Williamson & Roger Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Wayne. Sylvia was born August 12, 1923, in East Lynn, WV, the daughter of the late Wetzel and Dora Skeens Ferguson of East Lynn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years Frank Thompson of Genoa, WV, and a son Lonnie J. Thompson of Genoa. She retired from the Huntington State Hospital and was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church, Wayne. Sylvia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother that will be greatly missed. Survivors include four daughters and son-in-laws, Janice Winters (Frank) of North Webster Indiana, Wilma Jean Cassady of Wayne, with whom she made her home for the last four years, Bonnie Maynard (Raymond) of Genoa, Peggy Mills (James) of Genoa; and one son Ronnie Thompson (Gerry) of Spring Valley; special daughter-in-law Sue Thompson of Genoa; nine grandchildren, Frankie Winters (Sonia), Jamie Winters of Indiana, Bobby Cassady (Francene) of Wayne, Kim (Joe) Jackson of Wayne, Homer Ray Maynard, David Allen Thompson (Melissa) of Genoa, Michelle Copley (Jamie) of Huntington, Sherry Hall (Jamie) of Huntington, and Joshua Thompson (Elizabeth) of Huntington; ten great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; four sisters Olive Ferguson, Reba Davis, Faye Kauffman, and Shirley Smith.
