Rev. Marcus Avery Earp, III of Hedgesville formerly of Wayne County

Rev. Marcus Avery Earp, III, 83, of Hedgesville, WV, formerly of Wayne County, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Florence Memorial United Methodist Church at Dickson, WV by Pastor Greg Edens. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington, WV. He was born January 27, 1928 at Huntington, a son of the late Marcus Avery Earp, II and Addie L. McGinnis Earp. He was a graduate of Marshall College and earned his Master of Divinity degree from Wesleyan Seminary. He served in the U. S. Naval Reserve and the Civil Air Patrol, and was a retired minister with the United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joyce Smith Earp; a daughter, Kathryn Denise Spradling and husband, Richard of Chambersburg, PA; a son, Marcus Avery Earp, IV of Herndon, VA; two grandchildren, Jaime Michell Fraley-Wagner and husband, Jacob, and Jonathan Marcus Earp; one great-grandson, Avery Matthew Wagner; a brother, Carroll M. Earp and wife, Clyda of Lavalette, WV; and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Morris Funeral Home.
