Ersa "Ersie" H. Adkins of Fort Gay
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ersa “Ersie” H. Adkins, 80, of Ft. Gay, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 26, 2012. He was born May 2, 1932 in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late Elbert and Olga Adkins. Also preceding him in death were five brothers, Robert Lee Adkins, Orville Adkins, Cornis Harold Adkins, Delmar Ray Adkins, and infant Paris B. Adkins; and three sisters, Blanch Morris, Edith Bennett, and Leona Cremeans. Ersie was retired from General Motors in Baltimore, Md. He leaves behind his loving wife of 55 years, Wilda Adkins; one daughter, Lana Sue Adkins of Ft. Gay; four grandchildren Erica Harper and her companion Danny Yost of Beckley, W.Va., Talisha Lycans and her husband Paul Allen of Genoa, W.Va., Steven Hartsel Safford of Fort Gay, and Danielle Kitts of Louisa, Ky.; and five great grandchildren, Michael Allen Lycans, Tyler Wayne Lycans, Whitney Lynn Lycans, Cassidy Harper, and Olivia Yost. Also surviving is one brother, Ollin (Bonnie) Adkins of Maryland; five sisters, Marie Gillespie, Louise (Earl) Adkins, of South Point, Oh., Vera Fox, Opal Strogolis, of Maryland, and Betty Adkins of Wayne, W.Va.; special nephew Eugene Adkins and his wife Emma Ray; and special niece Windell DeLoach, all of Maryland. Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2012 at Johnson Tiller Funeral Home with Brother Luther Dingess and Pastor Tommy Kitts officiating. Burial will follow in the Everett Adkins Cemetery. Friends may call after 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
