Minnie Ann Carney Johnson

Minnie Ann Carney Johnson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and child of God was surrounded by her family when she went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013. She was born August 2, 1931 in Charleston, WV a daughter of the late Arnold B. and Lillie M. Miller Carney. Minnie was a faithful member of Kenova United Methodist Church where she was very active with the Busy Fingers Quilting Circle, the Upper Room Sunday school class and she was a weekly volunteer in the Welcome Center at church. Minnie was a secretary for Beckley Loan Company until she and Jay began their family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Jay Johnson; one sister, Henrietta Sander and two brothers, Clayton A. Carney and Buck M. Carney. Minnie is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Steve & Kathy Johnson of Kenova; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jayne and Doug Angles of Glen Allen, VA and Bev Johnson of Kenova; two granddaughters and their spouses, Kristin and Jeff Sanders and Ashlee and David Maynard all of Kenova; one grandson, Jason Angles of Claremont, NH; great grandchildren, Chris, Ben and Abby Sanders and Maezie Angles; one sister and brother-in-law, Sybil and Ed Shirkey of Boiling Springs, SC; a special cousin, Barbara Ballard of St. Albans, WV and her church family. Minnie was a wonderful mother whose love for her children was endless. No words can adequately express how she will be missed but her love will stay in our hearts forever. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the church with Rev. Jim Richards officiating. Burial followed in Maple Hill Cemetery.
