Spicie Mariah Adkins of Lavalette

Spicie Mariah Adkins, 84, of Lavalette, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 23, 2011. She was born December 19, 1926 at Stiltner, W.Va., a daughter of the late Artist Samuel Richardson and Fannie Fry Richardson. Her brothers Algia Richardson and Ellis Richardson also preceded her in death. Spicie worked approximately 25 years as the manager of the AMVETS Thrift Shop in Loraine, Ohio, and was a member of Laurel Freewill Baptist Church. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Clyde Adkins; one daughter, Brenda Adkins and husband Danny of East Lynn, W.Va.; two sons, Mike Adkins of Lavalette, and Rick Adkins and wife Mary of Ceredo, W.Va.; 10 grandchildren; and 13. Also surviving is one sister and best friend, Gladys Adkins and her husband N.P. of Wayne; and a host of friends and family too numerous to mention. Funeral services were conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 with Pastor Jerry Casteel officiating. Burial followed in Community Memorial Gardens.
