Lillian Lee Queen of Wayne
Lillian Lee Queen, 91, of Wayne, WV, passed away Thursday September 20, 2012 at Woodland Oaks Health Care in Ashland, KY. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2012 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Denny Brown. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. She was born March 13, 1921 in Louisa, KY, a daughter of the late Anthony Wayne and Minnie Austin Lycan. Lillian was a graduate of Ft. Gay High School, Class of 1940 and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1944 with a BS degree in Home Economics. She taught in Wayne County Schools from 1944 to 1957. On May 30, 1956 Lillian married Arlie H. Queen. The two of them owned and operated Queen’s Stores from 1957 to 1975 and travelled extensively following their retirement. Lillian was a member of the Tabor’s Creek Baptist Church and attended the Wayne United Methodist Church for many years. She impacted so many lives through her generous giving of time and support. Her husband, Arlie H. Queen and her sister, Ruth Smith also preceded her in death. Survivors include a sister, Esther Fairchild of Ashland, KY; a brother, Edgar Lycan (Ruth) of Ulysses, KY; a step-daughter, Pat Chapman of Norcross, GA; two step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
