Theodore "Roger" Thompson
On September 1, 2012, Theodore “Roger” Thompson, 69, our beloved husband, dad, papaw, brother, uncle and friend went to sleep in the Lord at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington, WV. He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 51 years and his precious children and grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne with Elders Garland Perry, Danny Endicott and Rev. Jake Steele officiating. Burial will follow at the Thompson Family Cemetery, Genoa. Roger was born on April 10, 1943 to the late Esker Thompson and Bessie Ball Thompson. He was a member of the Wayne Masonic Lodge #18 AF&AM, which will conduct masonic graveside rites and was a member of Tom’s Creek United Baptist Church. Roger retired from Norfolk & Southern Railway where he was a conductor. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Herbert Ralph “Jack” Thompson, Elder Sherwood Thompson and Lowell L. Thompson, Sister Dorothy Watts, brothers-in-law Paul Adkins & Charlie Watts, sister-in-law Nellie Thompson, and father and mother-in-law George W. & Ilene T. Brumfield. Surviving are: his loving wife of 51 years Cheryl Ann Brumfield Thompson, daughter Michelle (Chip) Followay, sons Roger W. (Angie) Thompson, Terry D. (Charlotte) Thompson, Brent Thompson and Jody (Nikki) Thompson; 12 grandchildren: Carrie Ann, Emily, Kaylee Dawn, Travis, Jason, Katie, Paden, Jennie Lea, Courtney, and Kinley Thompson and Justin and Carli Followay, three sisters Elizabeth “Peach” (Wayne) Mathis of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Reba Mae Adkins of Rittman, Ohio, Geraldine (Glenville) Lycans of Buford, GA, two sisters-in-law Katie Thompson of Wayne and Edna Thompson of Huntington, and brother & sister in law George and Joyce Brumfield. Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV.
