Clista Hazel Huffman of Hamlin
Clista Hazel Huffman, 93, of Hamlin, WV, has fallen asleep Tuesday evening at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV. Mother was tired and weary. Weary with toll and pain. Into Heaven’s mansions she’s entered, never to sign or to weep; after long years with life’s struggles, Mother has fallen asleep.
She was born January 9, 1918, in Hardy, Ky., daughter of the late Lewis and Elzie Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elisha Huffman; one son, Jennings Huffman; one daughter, Viola Hill; four brothers, Thomas Smith, Carlson Smith, James Smith and Harold Smith. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, James and Cathy Eggleton of Michigan, Elisha Junior and Judy Huffman of Hamlin, Carlos and Jerry Huffman of West Hamlin, and Robert and Kay Huffman of Ona; four daughters, Paula Winemiller of Proctorville, Oh, Dorothy Koper of Vidalia, Ga., Ruth Adkins of Huntington, and Carolyn Sue Dejarnett of Barboursville; one brother, Everett Smith of Mt. Sterling, Ky., three sisters, Mae Tarr and Grace Mellington, both of Georgetown, Delaware, and Emma Lee Dix of Fayetteville, WV; 20 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren. Clista was retired from Lovejoy’s Sundries and the Sewing Factory both of Hamlin. She was a quilter for Cabin Creek Sewing Company where she won numerous awards. Services were held 10 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin. Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial followed in Forrest Memorial Gardens, Milton, WV. Koontz Funeral Home, Hamlin, WV is handling arrangements.
