Rev. Kermit Joe Blankenship of Delaware

Rev. Kermit Joe Blankenship Sr., 73, of Delaware passed away peacefully early Saturday morning November 24, 2012 surrounded by his loving family at the Delaware Court Health Care Center. He was born January 26, 1939 in Holden, West Virginia to Richard and Rachel (Ramey) Blankenship. On January 31, 1959, he married the love of his life Rebecca (Staton) and later moved to Delaware in 1966 where he worked for General/Liberty Castings. He was a member of the Lewis Center Freewill Baptist Church who enjoyed gardening, bowling, and playing softball. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife; 4 sons, Ken (Penny) of Marengo, Keith of Marysville, Jay R. of Delaware, and Kevin (Angie) of Ashley; 3 daughters, Teresa (Ted) Glassburn of Delaware, Ternia (Tony) Walker of Marengo, and Tracey (Kelly) Green of Radnor; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Emmett of Kenova, WV., Cebern of Holden, WV., and Thomas of Swiss, WV.; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers Aubrey, Audley, and his twin Curtis.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday November 28th from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware and where funeral services will be held on Thursday November 29th at 1:00 pm with Revs. Dorsel Messick and Tony Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Marlborough Cemetery. The family will then host a reception in the Snyder-Rodman Community Room.
