Homer Christian of Ceredo

Homer Christian, of Ceredo, WV left his earthly home Wednesday, December 29, 2010. He was born September 4, 1918 in Sydney, WV a son of the late Alvis and Sadie Webb Christian. In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by one brother, Alvis Christian, Jr. Homer is survived by his wife of 72 years, Tennie Noe Christian; their two children, Alfredia Chafin, and her husband, Robert G. of Kenova, WV and John Homer Christian, and his wife, Barbara of Ceredo, WV. He was also the proud grandfather of five grandsons, Robert Bevin (Beth) Chafin, John Andrew (June) Christian, Brian Nebert (Melissa) Christian, Rev. Matthew Wayne (Quintessance) Christian and Mark Alvis (Lynn) Christian. He was a proud great-grandfather of two great granddaughters, Katie and Hollie Christian and one great grandson, Robert Lyle Chafin. Dad was a member of and attended, First Baptist Church Ceredo. He retired from Blacktop Industries in Kenova. He was an honest, good and humble man and he and mother loved each other and their family. Dad will be sadly missed by his family and all that knew him. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Center for their love and compassion to dad and his family during the last week of his life. Also, we would like to thank the Ceredo Police Dept. for their help in dad’s care. Flowers will be accepted and appreciated, or memorial contributions may be made, in dad’s memory, to the Ceredo Volunteer Fire Dept. at P.O. Box 691 Ceredo, WV 25507. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Charles Amos and Tony Billups. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Billups, Carl Kilgore, Carlos Ball, Roger Nelson, Ray Lindquist, Tom Perry and Orland Hunt. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2010 at First Baptist Ceredo with Rev. Rodney Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery in Kenova.
