Ralph Napier of Waverly, Ohio
The beloved Ralph Napier, 91, of Waverly, OH, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, WV. Calling hours for his Ohio family, friends, and neighbors will be Sunday, December 26, 2010, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Boyer Funeral Home in Waverly, OH. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 27, 2010, at 1:00 PM at the Morris Funeral Home in Wayne, WV. Pastor Roger Maynard will officiate, assisted by Buster Maynard. Friends, family, and former neighbors from West Virginia may call two hours prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Community Memorial Gardens in Wayne, WV.
Born July 14, 1919, in Wayne County, WV, Ralph was the son of the late Lucian and Martha Ross Napier. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Lucas and Pauline Skeens, and one brother, William Napier. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gladys Ramey Napier. Also surviving are his children; Connie Knight of Woodstock, GA, Cathy Brown and Joann Martin of Waverly, OH, Justine Burris of Clarksville, TN, Roger Napier and Karen Fannin of Kenova, WV; four sisters; Henrietta Dyer of Waverly, OH, Nancy Margaret Wallace of Wayne, WV, Rebecca Spence of Twinsburg, OH, and Martha Fay Pack of Spencer, OH; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In 1981 Ralph retired from the Newburg and Southshore Railroad, located in Cleveland, OH. He was a colorful storyteller and was devoted to his family and farm. Ralph was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church in Wayne, WV.
