Hobert C. Maynard of Wayne
Hobert C. Maynard, 90, of Wayne, WV went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 5, 2011 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born February 20, 1921 in Wayne, WV, a son of the late Lafe and Ollie Pack Maynard, and step-son of the late Jetta Booton Maynard. Hobert was a retired self-employed retail merchant in East Lynn. He and his wife, Alma had many friends and helped many people. He was a member of the Echo United Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army WWII veteran with many metals and was a member of the VFW Post #1064 and American Legion Post #93, whose members will conduct graveside rites. Two daughters, Barbara Stapleton and husband, Virgil and Roberta Smith and husband, David; two brothers, Paul B. Maynard and Billy Charles Maynard, also preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 69 years, Alma Ramey Maynard; a daughter, Bonnie Pope and husband, Alan of North Ridgeville, OH; a sister, Agnes Lycans and husband, Garland of Lavalette, WV; nine grandchildren, Hoby, Ronnie and Roy Stapleton, Lynette Osburn, Susie and Taylor Smith, Sherry Hickey, Don and Frank Pope; twelve great grandchildren, Diana, Janet, Ron Jr., Camille, Chris, Samantha, Hoby Jr., Joey Stapleton, Taylor Smith, Jr., Ashley Parson, Audrey Pope and Stanley Peterman, Jr. and a great-great granddaughter, Madison; and host of additional family and friends. Visitation will be held from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV with Elders Roger Maynard and Orville Damron officiating. Burial will follow at Community Memorial Gardens at Wayne. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
